23 things you tube

I have been looking around in you tube at a few videos. I found one on a library tour of harper college Library. I thought it more like an advertisement, the information on what is available in the library such as a reference desk, check in check out desk, could have just been listed under their website.
I suppose their aim was to make it more fun for students as well as a bit of fun for themselves.

I personally do not think I would ever create a video on youtube, to much exposure for me.

I do like skype though, phone calls for free. You can talk face to face with anyone anywhere in the world providing they have the coverage. I use skype alot to keep in touch with my family, we even used it while overseas to keep in contact with family here in Australia and Denmark.

I have added some of the youtube videos I looked through.

completion of my 23 things assessment

Well that was the last of my 23 things I chose to do. It was a learning experience.

I did get a little feed up with setting up new accounts and passwords in all the applications.

I will probably go and have a better look at flickr as lots of you seem be doing things with it.

I think I will probably use zoho - occasionally but not as much as windows word and excel;

Rollyo- not all;

library thing- to catalogue my books;

audio books not a present as you seem to have to buy them;

podcasts- most likely not, unless in an employment environment but I will look at them in sites I enjoy;

on line image generator- very occasionally

my web award favourite - goggle maps - I use it all the time

Youtube- It would not be likely that I would create my own video but it can be fun looking through some of the videos. some of the music ones are great. In libraries they could be used for teaching and might be useful readings of books.

any site from the Web 2.0 awards list, 23 things. goggle maps

My review on google maps.

I love this site. I personally think goggle have done an excellent job, goggle maps is the first place I go too when finding out where a place is and information about it. Links to gmail and other goggle acounts are there for you. Good information about town, city, area you are exploring. Photos, videos, description and rating on popular places. Links to accommodation and number of hotels available. You can customise the map yourself, share with others. It keeps track of addresses entered.
Finds direction to other places, will draw the route on the map and tell exactly how many kilometres, can change routes. What I especially love about goggle maps is street view. You can move the little man to a particular street in a town or city and he will be standing in the street, you can then move forward and backwards along the street (or road), locate an address and see the house, building as if you were standing in front yourself. We used this when overseas to show my partner's relatives our house here and our house in tasmania. We also used it before we went to look at the hotel we were booking in paris. I cannot think of a negative thing to say about goggle maps, congratulations goggle

audio books 23 things

I have been looking at the use of audio books (e Books). I personally would not read a book on a computer or ipad etc.

I think it takes the joy out of reading. nothing better than curling up in a chair on a cold day in front of the fire with your favourite book

I suppose for purposes of studying, when text books are expensive to buy and the information you require from the book may be limited, they might be a good idea.

But in the world of evergrowing changes in techology and us users moving with it, this might be another change we have to think about

below is a site I fould on audio books, unfortunately it is not free

podcasting and audio

I have been looking at podcasting and audio books. I have been unable to log into net books without a authorised account and password. I have found this site on tasmania which has some great podcast and audio uploads

I have created my own search roll in rollyo. which I will link to my blog. I might use this at a later date in the role of a librarian. creating a search role on a particular subject and linking relevant sites, but I don't think I would find much use for it personally. Link is at top of my blog. rollyo. my rollyo searchroll is travelling in france author monty 6139. click on monty 6139 will take you to searchroll.
